The Road (Part 1)
The Road is a collection of songs spanning the 4 years since my last release. Throughout my life, I have struggled to restrict myself to one genre of music which has often been a curse when trying to explain what my music is. In this case is a blessing as it has allowed me to separate out my ideas by genre for the first time.
In the end, I decided to split the songs in two as around half were naturally quite laid back and mostly created using acoustic instruments whereas the others had more of a full band / rock feel. The Road part 1 is the former and I feel it is an album that ties together really nicely and I am very proud of the results.
The album was recorded and produced by Ali Karim at his home studio and features Cittern from my dad (John Reed), Fiddle and Viola by Matt Steady and Vocals from Karoline Vik and Sean Parry.
Hypnotise
The album Hypnotise was recorded and released in early 2017 and was the first album where I collaborated with producer Ali Karim. The basis of every song is my acoustic guitar and my voice but the tracks range from relaxing acoustic pieces to full band rock songs.
Coming Home EP
Coming Home was recorded in 2016 with a friend in my front room in Withington. The main performance in each song (Guitar and Vocals) was performed live in a single take before we added other parts. I feel some of these songs are the best I have ever written but at the same time, I feel that with a different approach and setup, we could have made something more polished. I see this more as a live EP and potentially I will be recording some of these tracks again in the future.
The Hardest Path EP
The Hardest Path was recording using entirely acoustic instruments with friend and producer Dave Clark. It is the first time I have had any other musicians playing on my music as Stephanie Evans joins me on vocals for Out Of Sight.
Until The End EP
Until The End is my first album and comprises of songs written over the 5 years before its release in 2013. I recorded this with a friend who used to be the guitarist in my metal band (I was the vocalist, and there is not a chance I can sing like that nowadays!)
The album was definitely a learning curve and there are areas I would like to change now but the quality of the songs themselves still comes through as a constant. I particularly love "Until The End", "Tired" and "For You".
